Labour’s just making up policies as it goes along
HOW pathetic is it that suddenly Labour are ditching almost all of the policies they espoused before their last election mauling and adopting ones much closer to Conservative policies, in order to win back votes (“Harman U- turn as Labour back EU referendum”, May 25).
There seems to be nothing they won’t do or say in order to retrieve some of the votes they lost.
But the burning question is whether we could believe they will act upon those policies if they ever get voted back into power.
At least with Harold Wilson and James Callaghan you knew what Labour stood for. But now the ground upon which they are standing seems to be shifting.
Now they want an EU referendum, controls over immigration and to be business friendly, all of which were anathema to them only a few weeks ago. Philip Codd, Manchester
