David Cameron’s European tour is a waste of time
SO David Cameron is spending this week rushing around European capitals begging for support for his new deal on our continued membership of the EU, although we don’t really have much of an inkling of what his new deal consists of (“EU vote ban on migrants”, May 25).
But why has he even gone? We are the second largest net financial contributor to the EU, after Germany.
Eighteen of the member states receive large payouts from the kitty and contribute nothing.
Poland alone receives a massive sum every year equal to what we in the United Kingdom pay in.
David Cameron should table his list of requirements in Brussels and give the powers that be there just three months to accept them.
Then we can have a referendum on our membership. The subsequent vote of no confidence in him if his achievements fail to meet our expectations should concentrate his mind. Stewart Brown, Andover, Hants
