Starkey’s wrong, the Queen is remarkable

-

DAVID STARKEY is a brilliant historian but he is also a professional controversialist so I would take with a pinch of salt his pronouncement that the Queen won’t be remembered for actually doing anything. The Queen has turned out to be one of our greatest monarchs, providing stability during a time of monumental social change.

The world looks nothing like it did when she was born and she has lived through, among other things, a world war that cost us our empire, the rise and fall of communism, the appearance of Islamic extremism, the birth of the internet – I could go on.

She’s currently presiding over a Britain facing the problem of immigration and, whatever measures are brought in now, there’s no going back on what has happened. And yet still she’s there, simply getting on with it, never allowing anything to faze her.

Personally I’d say she’s one of the most remarkable people of our time.

SO, if I understand this correctly, Jeremy Corbyn is perfectly happy for Iran to have nuclear weapons but not we Brits. The man – and his supporters – must be utterly

barking mad. ANNA KASHFI, Marlon Brando’s fi rst wife, has been denied her wish to be buried beside their son Christian, another chapter in the history of one of Hollywood’s most dysfunctional families. If ever there was an example of the sins of the father being visited on the children, this was it.

Christian killed his half sister Cheyenne’s lover and Cheyenne later committed suicide. Brando had 16 known children, possibly more, proof that you can be the genetic father of children but in a real sense absolutely no parent at all.
