Cooper’s refugee plea is new low in battle for Labour
LABOUR leadership contender Yvette Cooper is calling for 10,000 ‘ refugees’ to be allowed into the country (“Storm as Labour’s Yvette urges Britain to take in 10,000 refugees”, September 2).
Cynically exploiting the refugee crisis to try to regain support from the left wing in the leadership election shows just how low politicians will sink.
She also wants the Government to exclude refugees from its target to reduce net migration to under 100,000 a year.
After the leadership election she will no doubt be denouncing the government for not doing more to cut immigration.
I might have some respect for these so- called “socialists” if they were to take some of the refugees into their own homes.
Certainly many of them are wealthy enough to do be able to do so.
