Lego’s profi ts skyrocket

LEGO achieved double lift off yesterday with bumper first- half profits as 20 of its plastic fi gures were sent into space alongside Denmark’s first astronaut Andreas Mogensen.

The Danish toymaker posted operating profit of 4.6billion kroner (£ 454million), up 27 per cent on last year, while revenue rose by 18 per cent excluding currency movements to 14.1billion kroner. The firm enjoyed double digit sales growth across all geographical regions led by Asia, with new launches, including Lego Jurassic World and Lego Elves, proving popular.

Chief executive Jorgen Vig Knudstorp said: “This is encouraging.”
