Adebayor is crazy to stay

- TONY BANKS

MARK NOBLE’S red card against Liverpool has been rescinded, leaving the West Ham captain free to face Newcastle after the international break.

But the Hammers have been charged by the FA with failing to control their players after Noble was sent off in the 3- 0 Premier League win at Anfi eld.

Stoke midfi elder Ibrahim Afellay’s three- game ban has been reduced to two following an appeal following his red card against West Brom. HARRY Redknapp has slammed Emmanuel Adebayor for his stubbornness after the Tottenham striker failed to fi nd a new club during the transfer window.

Spurs were desperate to offl oad the Togolese on deadline day and even offered him to Marseille before a mooted move to West Ham collapsed when Adebayor, below, demanded £ 5million to pay off the remainder of his contract . Former Spurs boss Redknapp said: “It would have been better to move. You would think he’d want to go and play. He’s just sitting around. “They are arguing over a fair amount of money but something has to give . He has no chance of playing for Spurs. Training with the kids every day must be soul- destroying.”

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, has defended the club’s transfer policy, saying: “I have been very clear that we would only add players that we felt would improve us and if any one player was not possible then I prefer we do not add for the sake of it.” DANIEL Sturridge is to resume fi rst- team training at Liverpool but the September 12 match at Manchester United is likely to be too early for his comeback.

The Reds have loaned Allan Rodrigues de Souza, 18, to Finnish side Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho after fi nalising the signing of the Brazilian from Internacional. CHELSEA have left new defender Papy Djilobodji, 26, out of their Champions League squad.
