How women hit the peak of chic aged 30 ( at steep price of £ 7,658)

- By Eleanor Jones

WOMEN are at their most stylish aged 30, the age of actress Keira Knightley and singer Nadine Coyle, claims research.

This is the time when women feel the most confident and also when their wardrobes are most valuable, says the study.

Men are slower to blossom – reaching their “style peak” at 36, the same age as film star James McAvoy and Italian footballer Andrea Pirlo.

The research, by insurer More Th> n, found that 30- year- old women own, on average, 212 items of clothing, shoes and accessories worth £ 7,658.

This usually includes seven big- name outfits worth £ 2,399 and seven pairs of designer shoes worth £ 2,086.

Singer Lady Gaga, known for her flamboyant outfits, still has a month before she peaks, when she should typically own 24 items of jewellery worth £ 2,800 – though as a star she presumably has much more. Transformers actress Megan Fox will also be at her most dapper this year.

Men reaching 36 include Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal and Channing Tatum.

The average non- celebrity male at 36 has clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery worth £ 8,868.

The study of 2,000 Britons suggests our pinnacle does not last long... confidence dips a year later. Women’s wardrobes drop in value by £ 1,981 between the ages of 30 and 50 while men’s lose a whopping £ 4,105.
