Virgin nets 99,000 customers

RECORD customer growth helped Virgin Media post a 38 per cent rise in annual profi t to £ 377.5million.

The cable operator added 99,000 customers last year, including 69,000 UK internet additions in the fourth quarter – its best performance since the start of 2010.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media’s US owner Liberty Global merged its Dutch operations with Vodafone to create a stronger package of TV, broadband, web and mobile offerings. Vodafone will pay € 1billion to Liberty to even out the joint venture.

Vodafone chief Vittorio Colao denied the Dutch venture was a blueprint for similar deals.
