FORMER Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko has joined his country’s coaching staff ahead of Euro 2016.

The 2004 Ballon d’Or winner, who played for Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan and Chelsea, has succeeded Olexandr Zavarov as assistant to head coach Mykhaylo Fomenko.

Shevchenko, 39, turned down the head coach job in 2012, saying he did not have the required qualifi cations, but last March completed a course for a UEFA pro licence.
