Our ace baby is Sophia Olivia reveals Murray
ANDY Murray and Kim Sears have named their new daughter Sophia Olivia, it was revealed yesterday.
The tennis ace and wife Kim, both 28, welcomed their first child on February 7.
There was speculation that the couple would choose a traditional Scottish name.
But bookmakers said yesterday they had paid out a small fortune for a name that is among the most popular for girls in England and Wales.
According to the Office for National Statistics, Sophia was the 12th most popular for girls in 2014, while Olivia was number two on the list.
David Macdonald, of Ladbrokes, said: “We’ve been served an ace by punters and it looks like Sophia is already following in her father’s footsteps by taking the bookies to the cleaners.”
The couple have been keeping mum about their new arrival, instead choosing to keep a low profile at their £ 5million home in Oxshott, Surrey.
World number two Murray celebrated becoming a father for the first time just days after dashing home from losing in the final of the Australian Open to Novak Djokovic.
After the match Murray paid tribute to his wife, saying: “To my wife Kim. She’s going to be watching back home just now. You’ve been a legend the last two weeks. Thanks for all your support and I’ll be on the next flight home.”
