ICC acts on spot- fixers

-

THE ICC’S anti- corruption unit believes it has prevented a spot- fi xing incident and identifi ed the plotters.

The chairman of the unit, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, above, said the alleged planned fi x involved members of an international team. He did not disclose the individuals or the country involved as the case is still being investigated.

However, the unit acted by bringing the team’s squad together and reminding them of their responsibilities, while indicating it will punish those involved.

Flanagan said: “We decided that we would intervene immediately.”

The revelation comes before the World Twenty20 gets under way in India tomorrow.

Australia beat South Africa by fi ve wickets in Johannesburg to bring their three- match T20 series level at 1- 1.
