Hughton short changed

-

CHRIS HUGHTON is ready to make changes with play- off rivals Sheffi eld Wednesday up next tomorrow, after his Brighton side had just two shots on target in a goalless draw at Preston.

“I have options,” said Hughton, right. “Richie Towell and Kazenga LuaLua didn’t make the squad, but when you have a series of games every Tuesday and Saturday I can make changes.”

Wednesday suffered their fi rst home defeat since August, 1- 0 to Rotherham, but manager Carlos Carvalhal said: “We’re still in a good position and still fi ghting. Life continues, we’ve just lost one game.”

Matt Derbyshire scored the winner for thirdbottom Rotherham and gave all the credit to new manager Neil Warnock.

“He has put big belief in all his players,” said Derbyshire. “You can see from the performances that the lads relish playing for him.”

Dean Lewington scored in MK Dons’ 2- 0 win over QPR that maintained the three- point gap to Rotherham and kept Bristol City, 2- 0 losers to Cardiff, and Fulham, who drew 2- 2 at Reading, within touching distance.

“The win keeps us above the line, but there will be plenty of ups and downs along the way,” said captain Lewington.

“If we keep picking up points like this, we’ll be in the driving seat. “With 11 games to go, we’re all in fi ght mode.

“There will be some strange results now as teams start fi ghting for their lives. “There are no easy games any more. Every game will be an absolute battle.”
