Pearl says family and friends were amazed by her progress and determination. “It wasn’t easy,” she says. “You have to be strongwilled and stick to it but it works.”
Pearl still uses the diet on and off to maintain her weight. She now weighs 14st 5lb and her feet are much better. Her glucose control is now good and her back problem has improved.
Because of her diabetes complications Pearl had not flown for 15 years but she is now looking forward to visiting her daughter Nadia who lives in Rome.
“I’ve always loved clothes,” she says. “Shoes are also my passion but it’s difficult with bad feet and there are limited outlets for larger people. Now I can shop on the high street or anywhere I want.”
Before travelling to Rome she will head to Oman at Easter where her son Charlie lives with his family and the first thing she will be looking forward to is that
