Not what a school is for

-

PRIDDY and St Lawrence’s Primary School in Somerset is to be twinned with a refugee camp in Iraq. Do these children and their teachers really have nothing better to do than draw pictures and take part in video chats?

Time was when teachers devoted their energies to imparting knowledge and encouraging pupils to find out about the world for themselves. Now they seem to regard such things as old- fashioned. Instead they prefer to waste time indoctrinating youngsters with their own liberal point of view.

Telling children of primary school age what to think about an issue of this complexity does nobody any favours. Teachers would be better off helping these children develop the skills they need to make up their own minds.
