AC/ DC pull the plug on US gigs

-

AC/ DC have announced they’re postponing the remainder of their US tour – after lead singer BRIAN JOHNSTON was warned he could completely lose his hearing unless he stops performing.

With the band set for two UK gigs in June fans here will face an anxious wait as no return date has been given for when – or even if – he’ll be able to return. According to their website, the Australian rockers will attempt to reschedule the 10 American shows later in the year, with an as yet unknown guest vocalist. What happens after that is still up in the air, although tour dates through to June 12 are still listed online. British- born Brian, 68, joined the group in 1980 following the death of original frontman BON SCOTT. Their first album with Brian, Back In Black, became the second best- selling album of all time after Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

It’s been a difficult couple of years for AC/ DC with founder and rhythm guitarist MALCOLM YOUNG quitting in 2014 because of the onset of dementia. Drummer of four decades Phil Rudd was forced to quit in 2015 after being charged with attempting to procure a murder, threatening to kill and possession of drugs.

He admitted the drug charges and one count of threatening to kill and last July was sentenced to eight months’ home detention.
