WAS DIANA THE MOST INSPIRING WOMAN EVER?
Yes
I WILL never forget the pain I felt the morning the news of Princess Diana’s death broke (“Diana... the icon we most admire”, March 8).
Even though our paths never crossed it felt as bad as losing a member of my own family. I sobbed uncontrollably as I relayed the dreadful news to our children.
Nineteen years on it is clear that the reason we felt and continue to feel so much love for the Queen Of Hearts is that she really was a true inspiration to the majority of us.
A kind, gentle, compassionate face within an often cold and distant family.

IN what kind of topsyturvy world is Princess Diana held in higher regard than Mother Teresa and Marie Curie?
Let’s cut the sentimentality and outdated royalist claptrap. Diana was a privileged young lady who wanted for nothing. She was made for life by marrying into royalty.
The circus that followed her and her sons around was so tedious but it could easily have been dealt with. And why wasn’t it? Because Diana herself courted the media. She’d tip them off about incidents and then act all flustered when a swarm of paparazzi appeared. Pathetic.
