Drama school still open to people of all backgrounds
IAN McShane and others who are concerned about drama school training not being available to those other than the privileged class are mistaken (“Ian stirs it on the acting mix”, March 7).
Indeed there are more opportunities for students from all backgrounds to study at accredited drama schools such as Royal Central and Rada than there ever was in his day.
Most are associated with university awarding bodies, thus offering degrees. And government loans for fees and living expenses are a given for all with the requisite academic entry qualifications.
In the past those who could not afford it had to win a scholarship but this is no longer the case.
