When the Navy’s top female pilot dies while flying a state- of- the- art aircraft at an air show, a senior officer asks for the team’s help as they try to determine the cause of the accident, fearing it will lead the press to question the capability of women pilots. Initially, evidence pointed to it being down to error but a new autopsy suggests otherwise, and investigators are forced to race to prevent another accident. Rural: Land Of Hope And Glory – British Country Life, 9pm, BBC2
Country Life magazine has been the property bible for grand country houses for almost 120 years now. In this programme about rural life in Britain, Jane Treays visits cottages, manor houses and castles, meeting the people that live in them, including huntsman Adrian Thompson ( above). Homes range from a Scottish estate to a crumbling historic mansion in Oxfordshire.
Drama: Mr Selfridge, 9pm, ITV
Harry’s judgement, Whiteley’s love life – and even that of Lady Mae – have made them the centre of attention and sent the tabloids into a frenzy. Jimmy’s final actions leave Harry reeling and he has no choice but to head for the sanctuary of home. Mae is at the end of her tether following recent developments and is contemplating her position. Indeed, she is wondering whether her future lies in London at all. Meanwhile, the threat of a trade embargo by Hardcastle leaves acting boss Gordon ( Greg Austin, pictured far left) feeling backed into a corner, which results in Harry ( Jeremy Piven, pictured centre) being called to account. Gary Lineker presents live coverage from the Madejski Stadium as Championship side Reading entertain Premier League Crystal Palace in this FA Cup sixth- round tie. The home side will hope to reach the semi- finals for the second consecutive year but Alan Pardew ( right) and his Palace team beat high- flying Tottenham in the last round so they have a tough task ahead.
