Has Kate toned- up by lifting the children?

- By Richard Palmer Royal Correspondent

THE Duchess of Cambridge looked slim and fit with a toned physique in a sleeveless dress yesterday.

She was attending her first engagement as patron of the children’s mental health charity the Anna Freud Centre at Spencer House in London.

Her £ 800 Roksanda Ilincic dress, a favourite she has worn before, bared her arms to the shoulder revealing the definition of her triceps and biceps, not easy for young mothers to achieve.

Lifting her two toddlers, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, regularly may be helping.

But Kate is known to love working out in the gym and enjoys playing tennis.

She dispensed with her coat on arriving at Princess Diana’s ancestral home to thank benefactors in a £ 10million drive towards building a state- of- the- art children’s mental health centre.

Kate attended the lunch at Spencer House, an 18th century mansion owned by Prince William’s uncle, Earl Spencer.

The building is leased to another friend of the royals, financier Lord Rothschild.

Excellence

The charity runs a school near King’s Cross station for children excluded from mainstream education and plans a £ 34million integrated centre of excellence combining research, teaching and other assistance.

Kate attended a lunch to thank donors who have so far raised £ 3.25million.

Also yesterday, she revealed to children the Royal Family has a new member: a hamster who delights Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess disclosed that Prince George, two, and one- yearold Charlotte have new pet “Marvin” alongside their cocker spaniel Lupo, when she opened a children’s play garden at Hampton Court Palace in London.

The news was broken to the world by Darcey, 9, from nearby John The Baptist Junior School.

Darcey told reporters: “She said she had a hamster and Charlotte really likes it because the whiskers always tickle her face.”

The new Magic Garden attraction draws on myths and fables surrounding Henry VIII’s palace.

Some of the children attending seemed unsure of the royal visitor. One little girl asked: “Who’s that?” The future Queen replied: “Just call me Kate.”
