I spend £ 27k a year pampering my three dogs
A DEVOTED dog lover, who spends £ 27,000 a year on her pampered pets, has just splashed out thousands more on a new canine- friendly kitchen.
Katy Harris, 45, spends a small fortune on her three Boston terriers – Beau, Sooty and Noodle.
The spoilt pooches already have a selection of pricey matching outfi ts, bespoke collars and hand- crafted beds. Now she has had a brand- new kitchen designed around them providing a dedicated doggy lounge and built- in wardrobes.
And it is from there that she serves up the fi nest organic food for her adored dogs.
Mrs Harris, of Middlewich, Cheshire, said: “They’re worth every penny.
“I love to spoil them. They only have the very best. I can pop out to the shops to get them one thing and come out having spent more than £ 1,000. Sometimes I get a bit out of control.”
Katy often tries to hide the true costs from her exasperated husband Mark, 60. She said: “I often have to hide receipts from Mark . He knows really, though – he just shakes his head and rolls his eyes.
“We don’t have any children, so the dogs are like our babies.
“They defi nitely don’t go without. I just think they deserve to be spoilt.”
Katy, who works for Barclays, said the new kitchen was designed to give the dogs enough room to relax.
She said: “We knocked through to the dining room so we could make them their own little lounge and own space to chill out.
“There are certain aspects of it, like the fl ooring, that we chose especially so it was dog- friendly.”
“Everything we do revolves around the dogs. We don’t splash out on expensive foreign holidays, we always go somewhere in the UK so we can take them with us.
“People might say I’m crazy, but as long as the dogs are happy and loved, that’s all I care about.”
