Fiery Fellaini warned to cool it

- Richard Tanner

LOUIS VAN GAAL has told Marouane Fellaini he has only himself to blame for his three- match ban.

And the Manchester United manager has warned the midfi elder to show better control in the future.

Fellaini will miss United’s fi nal three Premier League games of the season after accepting a violent conduct charge from the FA for elbowing Leicester Robert Huth.

The Belgian missed the fi rst three games of the campaign after being red- carded in the fi nal game of last season for a reckless tackle on Paul McShane at Hull.

And his latest ban comes after a season in which he was branded a “thug” by former referee Howard Webb for lashing out at Emre defender Can and Dejan Lovren in the Europa League ties against Liverpool.

Fellaini will be available for the FA Cup fi nal against Crystal Palace on May 21 but Van Gaal wants him to curb his volatile temperament, although he expressed sympathy for his reaction to having his hair tugged by Huth, who has also received a three- game ban.

“We won’t appeal because I have said already that the reaction of Fellaini is like any human being,” said Van Gaal.

“He has to control himself better, that is true, but when you grab somebody in his hair this situation shall always exist.

“And when the FA give Huth a suspension of three matches then they admit we should have had a penalty. ”

Meanwhile, Van Gaal admits United’s away form has to improve as they visit Norwich tomorrow and West Ham on Tuesday .

He said: “We have the second- best home record after Leicester but we have the 10th- best away record. We have to improve that by winning at Norwich and West Ham if we want to fi nish in the top four.”
