Buffalo shot dead

AN escaped water buffalo was shot dead yesterday after roaming through a village and seriously injuring a man.

Police called in a licensed slaughterman to kill the animal after it was reported to be “on the loose” near a primary school in Seighford, Staffs, having escaped from a farm.

One man suffered a serious leg injury after being knocked over.

He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
