Ranieri’s champions are like a breath of fresh air

-

WHAT a refreshing change to see Leicester City as Premier League champions. I am particularly pleased for manager Claudio Ranieri. He was ridiculed by some when appointed and the team were given little hope of remaining in the Premier League (“Ranieri had demanded a display fitting for coronation”, May 9).

At last we have a manager who is able to use man-management as well as football knowledge. Not for him the millionaire superstars. He has taken a squad of players and through skill and teamwork has achieved what those with expensive squads have failed to do.

He has done this with measured dignity. He did not blame players when things went awry nor did he stoop to the rhetoric used by some to antagonise opponents.

We salute Ranieri because he has brought joy back to football.
