Gunners still in Kane’s sights

- Matthew Dunn

HARRY KANE has proved once again he is ‘one of Tottenham’s own’ by ignoring his own manager’s call for professionalism by admitting that finishing above Arsenal this season would be special.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said his club should stop worrying about their rivals so much after a 2-1 home defeat against Southampton opened the door to another year of hurt.

Arsenal have finished higher in the top flight every season since Arsene Wenger’s arrival 19 years ago and can make it 20 if they beat Aston Villa on the final day and Spurs lose at Newcastle.

Kane feels it is high time Tottenham were able to claim the local bragging rights.

“It would be a really good feeling,” he said. “It was not something we focused on at the start of the season but now we’re here it would be good, good for the fans. They would have bragging rights for once in a long time so, yes, we want to finish second. It is in our hands.” MICHEL PLATINI has resigned as UEFA president after failing to overturn his FIFA ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport . Platini, left, whose suspension was cut from six to four years, said: “I see [this ruling] as a profound injustice. It stops me contesting the next election for the FIFA presidency. I’m resigning to pursue my battle in court to prove my innocence.” ●LEEDS chairman Massimo Cellino has been acquitted on appeal for failing to pay VAT on a Range Rover imported into Italy from the USA.
