Vardy: No one gifted us title

-

JAMIE VARDY has hit back at claims Leicester were helped on their way to the title by other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said rivals had made it clear they wanted the Foxes to land the crown. Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas of Chelsea openly stated they wanted them to finish top before the Blues ended Spurs’ hopes with a 2-2 draw on May 2.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis also said he would “love to see” Leicester win before his side put a dent in Spurs’ chances by claiming a point at White Hart Lane. But Vardy, speaking at the launch of his V9 Academy, said: “I don’t think anyone would like to just turn up and be rolled over to let someone else win.

“I don’t think that is inside anyone and I’m sure the fans wouldn’t like it. So I can’t see it being true.”

Vardy is looking for 52 non-League players to take part in an intensive training course at Manchester City’s Etihad campus. The aim is to find unsung talent that can emulate his rise from the backwaters to the Premier League and international fame.
