Don’t go on the rampage

- By Tony Banks

SIR Trevor Brooking has pleaded with West Ham fans not to trash their beloved Upton Park in the hunt for souvenirs tonight.

At the same time, co-chairman David Gold asked supporters not to invade the pitch – or the planned after-match celebrations could be cancelled.

West Ham play their final game at their famous home of 112 years tonight against Manchester United, before they move to the Olympic Stadium.

About 450 former Hammers will attend and the celebrations will include spectacular lighting, music and big-screen video.

Brooking said: “The season-ticket holders will want to know if they will be allowed to take their seats. It’s something the club will have to sort out. They will have to give them a steer or it could be a dangerous situation.”

Gold added: “Don’t spoil it. It can only get delayed – or possibly cancelled – if there’s a pitch invasion. That would be a tragedy.”

Gold last night also called on England boss Roy Hodgson to take Andy Carroll to Euro 2016.

“Of course Andy should go to France. They don’t have his type of player in the squad,” said Gold.
