Ranieri to hit £11m jackpot

-

CLAUDIO RANIERI will land an £11 million payout after steering Leicester to the Premier League title.

Foxes vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha confirmed the wealthy Thai owners are ready to rip up 64-year-old Ranieri’s contract and start again.

They will set up talks on a three-year deal that will bag the Italian £9m – double his previous salary.

That is added to what is believed to be the best part of £2m he has already picked up as bonus for the number of places they finished above the relegation cut-off point. Aiyawatt believes he has landed a top man in Ranieri and is set to show him just how much he means to the club.

Aiyawatt said: “We will talk about this with him. We are always thinking long term, not just short term.

“Claudio is special. When we first interviewed him, all the plans that I had in my head came out in his words. I felt right then that he was a man who could help take this club forward.”

Despite the huge figures, Ranieri’s goals next season are more modest – he has been told his priority will be to keep the Foxes up.
