Aldi triumphs at wine industry’s ‘Oscars’

SUPERMARKE­T Aldi is toasting its success after winning internatio­nal recognitio­n for its wines.

The retailer scooped two gold awards – one for a £7.99 bottle from its own label range – and 24 other accolades.

The Exquisite Collection Marlboroug­h Sauvignon Blanc secured a top gong at the Internatio­nal Wine Challenge Tranche 2 – dubbed the Oscars of the wine industry.

The other prestigiou­s gold award was presented for the £9.99 Lot 14 Minervois La Liviniere.

Aldi’s managing director: buying, Tony Baines, said: “For our range to receive 26 accolades is a fantastic recognitio­n of the work our talented buying team undertake to source the best wines from around the world. We’re particular­ly excited that shoppers can now purchase our awardwinni­ng wine collection at the click of a button from our new website.”
