Aldi triumphs at wine industry’s ‘Oscars’
SUPERMARKET Aldi is toasting its success after winning international recognition for its wines.
The retailer scooped two gold awards – one for a £7.99 bottle from its own label range – and 24 other accolades.
The Exquisite Collection Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc secured a top gong at the International Wine Challenge Tranche 2 – dubbed the Oscars of the wine industry.
The other prestigious gold award was presented for the £9.99 Lot 14 Minervois La Liviniere.
Aldi’s managing director: buying, Tony Baines, said: “For our range to receive 26 accolades is a fantastic recognition of the work our talented buying team undertake to source the best wines from around the world.
