Ungrateful newlyweds

-

THERE’S boorishness, there’s ingratitude and then there’s… the actions of an unnamed newly married couple whose appalling behaviour has just come to light via a wedding guest posting on Mumsnet beggar belief.

They had asked for gifts of money and so the guest very generously sent them a £100 cheque – and this was the response. “We were surprised that your contribution didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day. In view of your own position, if you wanted to send any adjustment it would be thankfully received.” Needless to say the couple had already cashed the original cheque before they sent this but grasping doesn’t even begin to sum it up. ABOUT 10 years ago I met a lovely lady called Wendy Lee-Forrester who was a real-life Liver Bird, saw The Beatles when they were still The Quarrymen, lifted the spirits of everyone she met and was a lifelong Daily Express reader.

Wendy passed away last weekend after years of ill health. RIP Wendy – it was fun. I NEVER have and never will vote Labour but credit where it is due: Sadiq Khan seems to be getting off to a jolly good start. The first thing he did as Mayor was to attend the Holocaust Memorial ceremony and now he’s telling Jeremy Corbyn he must moderate his views.

Labour will be out of power for a generation but when they come back, as one day they must, I wouldn’t be surprised if Khan was at the helm. One ex London mayor is already aiming for Number 10. This may become a trend.
