- HANNAH BRITT

FACILITIES

If you fancy a relaxing city break then look no further than this luxurious spa located right in the heart of Bath.

Set in the centre of the city’s famous Royal Crescent, a magnificent curved building dating back to 1767, the hotel enjoys beautiful views.

The spa at The Royal Crescent, which has recently been renovated, includes a relaxing stone-walled swimming pool, a vitality pool with massage jets, a Himalayan salt-infused sauna and a blossom steam inhalation room.

TREATMENTS AVAILABLE

There is something to suit all tastes and budgets from luxurious hot stone massages to speedy express manicures.

There are treatments available for couples and a selection for men with most using products from the luxury spa brand Espa.

TREATMENTS TESTED Espa Personalised Facial, £95, 60 minutes

During an initial consultation, my therapist asked about my skin concerns.

I told her I had sensitive skin so she tailored the treatment towards calming my complexion.

The treatment began with a deep cleanse using hot towels and a light exfoliating scrub. Next my therapist massaged a soothing oil over my face using firm, circular motions, explaining the massage was designed to reduce puffiness.

A nourishing face mask was then applied before my therapist finished the treatment with a soothing serum.

Leaving the spa my skin looked and felt amazing. Any redness and tightness had gone and my complexion was left clear and bright.

Luxury Pedicure, £50, 60 minutes

The treatment began with an aromatherapy foot soak. After this a scrub was applied from my toes to my shins before the soles of my feet were buffed with a pumice stone.

My therapist then pushed back my cuticles, massaged my feet with oil and used a strengthening base coat on my toenails. I opted for a vibrant orange Jessica varnish to finish the look.

GOOD POINTS

Dinner in the award-winning Dower House Restaurant was exceptional. The scallop sashimi with smoked eel and avocado wasabi was delicious as was the Cornish stone bass.

Throughout our stay the staff couldn’t do enough to help, even drawing me a map with directions to the Roman Baths.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Rooms start from £265 per night and suites from £465, which includes use of the spa facilities and a full English breakfast.
