Willey facing six weeks out

YORKSHIRE’S first win of their Specsavers County Championship title defence came at a cost, with David Willey added to a growing list of bowling talent facing time on the sidelines

The England bowler suffered an abdominal injury on day one of their win over Surrey.

He faces six weeks out and is likely to miss part of the ODI series against Sri Lanka next month. He joins Ryan Sidebottom, Tim Bresnan and Matthew Fisher on a crowded physio’s bench as the champions also prepare to lose Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to England.

Yorkshire are top for the first time this year, a point ahead of Lancashire who posted the only other result in Division One, beating Hampshire by an innings and 94 runs.
