Every little helps for our thrifty Queen at Tesco
EVERY little helps, even when you are the Queen.
She beamed with pleasure yesterday after she was presented with a £50 Tesco gift card as a prize for one of her steeds winning a competition at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The thrifty monarch showed her delight at getting a good deal when she tore open an envelope to reveal the store card.
Wearing a floral headscarf, buttoned blue cardigan and long grey checked skirt she roared with laughter.
She was presented with the top prize after her horse Barber’s Shop won the RoR Tattersalls Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Championship in the annual show.
The Queen is estimated to be worth £330million and her private income comes from personal investments and private estates.
The Royal Windsor Horse Show, which will host one of the main celebrations for her 90th birthday, is one of the Queen’s favourite events but had been affected by bad weather.
A waterlogged car park forced the cancellation of the preview performance on Wednesday but the sun was shining as main contest got under way yesterday.
On Sunday, the Queen will attend an evening of music and equestrian displays featuring performers from countries including Oman, Chile, New Zealand, Canada, Fiji, Australia, Azerbaijan and the UK, celebrating her life and love of horses.
