EasyJet hit by ‘turbulence’
EASYJET shares nosedived 312p to 1001p yesterday as it warned profits would take a hit due to the impact of strike action by French air traffic controllers, congestion issues at Gatwick and severe weather.
Over £1.1billion was wiped from the budget airline’s market value as it admitted May and June had been “extremely challenging”. It has cancelled over 700 flights this month mainly due to strikes and poor weather, up from 487 last year. About £28million will be wiped from its third-quarter profit.
After the Brexit result, it said “additional economic and consumer uncertainty is likely”.
