Mario having fun
MARIO GOMEZ says it is fun to play for Germany because they have it all.
The 30-year-old Fiorentina striker, who spent last season on loan at Besiktas, was only recalled by his country last November after missing their 2014 World Cup triumph with long-standing injuries. But he is enjoying every minute, insisting his side are the most complete team left in the tournament.
They have yet to concede a goal in France and Gomez helped his country march into the last eight with his second goal of the competition in the 3-0 demolition of Slovakia. He said: “It’s fun playing in this team. We are strong technically and mentally.”
Gomez needs one more goal to go past Jurgen Klinsmann’s tally of five and be out on his own as his nation’s top scorer at the Euros.
