Liverpool send Sakho home from tour of America after clash with Klopp at San Francisco prison
MAMADOU SAKHO’S future at Liverpool is in doubt after he was sent home from the club’s pre-season tour of America.
The France centre-back arrived late for Liverpool’s flight to America and interrupted the filming of a Jurgen Klopp interview at Alcatraz prison.
The Liverpool manager, right, has now ordered Sakho to return to the club’s Melwood training ground to continue his rehabilitation from an Achilles tendon injury after questions were raised about his attitude around the camp. Two other injured players, Joe Gomez and Lucas, remain with the group. In the video, filmed on Liverpool’s tour of Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, Sakho interrupts Klopp and asks: “How long do you think you can live here?” The German
replies: “I don’t have to think about that – you should. Only one of us turned up late for departure from Liverpool. It was you.”
Sakho has endured a turbulent three months after failing a drugs test in April which meant he missed the Europa League final defeat by Sevilla and Euro 2016 because of an interim suspension – only for UEFA to drop the case after deciding the fat-burning substance he took should not be on their banned list.
Sakho flew back to England with left-back Brad Smith, above, who is set to complete a move to Bournemouth after a £6million deal was agreed over the weekend.
Meanwhile, young Brazilian midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza has joined Hertha Berlin on loan.
