Donor card joke wins hearts of the experts

COMIC Masai Graham has had one of his jokes rated the best at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Risking offending transplant patients, he jested: “My dad suggested I register for a donor card...he’s a man after my own heart.”

TV channel Dave enlisted the help of an expert panel of judges scouring venues at the fringe to nominate their favourite jokes.

The shortliste­d gags were then put to 2,000 people who voted for the ones that tickled them the most.

Masai, from West Bromwich in the West Midlands, told the joke which more than a quarter found the funniest.

He said: “It’s an incredible honour to land joke of The Fringe. Not bad for someone from West Brom.”

Masai, who was fourth in last year’s contest and second the year before, said: “Obviously I’m Masai shows off his award for best joke at the Edinburgh Fringe

Steve North, general manager of Dave, said: “The Fringe is renowned for being the best place to spot new and emerging comedy talent, and although there are some returning contenders in our top 10 this year, there is a high volume of new talent.”
