Is Cheryl’s face just perfect?
THE world’s most desirable female face has been created from requests from women about to undergo cosmetic surgery... and the result looks just like singer Cheryl.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s “mathematically perfect” nose is the facial feature women most want to replicate when they go under the knife.
The second most popular facial feature was the eyelids of Pirates of the Caribbean and Atonement star Keira Knightley.
They topped a list of the nine most popular features from 1,000 patients who underwent cosmetic procedures with Harley Street facial cosmetic surgeon Dr Julian De Silva.
Dr De Silva has kept a log of the most popular requests over the past 10 years showing which stars women most want to look like. He has created a composite which combines the nine most requested features in one “perfect face”. And merging the most desirable features creates a face just like singer Cheryl’s. The third most copied was Jennifer Lopez’s eyebrows, with Penelope Cruz’s lips in fourth and Angelina Jolie’s cheeks in fifth place. Sixth place went to Reese Witherspoon’s skin, followed by Miley Cyrus’s forehead in seventh place, model Selena Gomez’s chin was eighth and veteran singer and actress Cher came ninth with her jawline.
Dr De Silva, from the Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery, in Hammersmith, west London, said that patients often wanted to copy the looks of their favourite celebrity.
He said: “You will often have a consultation with a patient who will present you with a picture of a well-known person and say ‘I want to look like that’.
“Obviously the challenge for me is to look at their facial proportions and advise whether this will be a good look for them after the surgery. Thankfully, a lot of the time, it works very naturally to replicate a nose like that of the Duchess of Cambridge or eyelids similar to Keira Knightley’s.
“But on other occasions we do have to amend the plans because there are limits to how far you can improve what nature has given you.
“Most patients are pretty realistic in their objectives. They know that a new nose is not going to make them look exactly like Kate Middleton. But a nose like Kate’s might perfectly complement the rest of their features and give them a much more beautiful face.”
Dr De Silva said the Duchess, 34, had the most popular nose because it was mathematically almost perfect.
To the naked eye, her nose is straight, delicate and feminine and science confirms that Kate’s nose, with its 106-degree nasal tip rotation, deserves a place on the world’s most perfect face. Recent research shows that noses between 104-108 degrees in their orientation are the most beautiful.
Rhinoplasty, the process by which the nose is reshaped, has increased in popularity by 14 per cent in the last year.
Dr De Silva said: “What is wrong with wanting to look like your favourite star? It helps cosmetic surgeons to quickly establish exactly what a patient wants.
“These are the most beautiful women in the world – who wouldn’t want to look like that?”
Dr De Silva has experienced a 25 per cent rise in procedures in the last year and has seen a Brexit-inspired upturn.
He added: “We are busier than ever. Harley Street is an international centre for surgery and more patients are coming from overseas for treatment because of the devaluing of sterling.”
