Teacher ‘who had sex with boy’ loses her Christian charity role

- By John Chapman

A DEVOUT Christian teacher struck off over allegations she slept with a pupil has also lost her role at a religious charity, it emerged yesterday.

Isabelle Graham, 28, resigned from her job as a French mistress after a picture appeared on social media which claimed to show her lying in bed at a hotel while a boy stood at the door of the room.

Ms Graham claimed that her drink was spiked at the school prom in June 2014 and said she could not remember what happened later on during the party that evening.

She insisted she did not believe in sex before marriage and was engaged at the time of the allegations.

Ms Graham was not prosecuted but a General Teaching Council for Scotland disciplinary tribunal struck her off after finding that she “repeatedly engaged in sexual activity” with the boy after giving him drink and sharing a bed with him in Edinburgh.

Since she left her job at Whitburn Academy, West Lothian, she moved with her husband Andrew Wilkie to Aldershot, Hampshire.

Now going by her middle and married names Shona Wilkie, she began working for the Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Scripture Readers Association, a charity with the Queen as patron which spreads Christian teaching among soldiers.

But yesterday her name was removed from the online staff list of the charity. A spokesman for the charity said she was “currently not working with us” after she had been in its “donor relations” department.

As part of her duties at the charity, she had compiled a book of the war diaries of a scripture-reading soldier at the Somme called William Ransley.

A publicity blurb for the book, published in July, says of its author that “she and her husband are members of a local evangelical church, where they are both actively involved in church life”.

Mr Wilkie, also 28, is listed as a support officer at the charity and is training to become a clergyman.

It has since emerged that Ms Graham, now Mrs Wilkie, gave birth to their first child last week.
