-

His actions were calculated to develop or enhance inappropriate relationships with these students and were sexually motivated.”

The first woman – Witness A – said she went to see the doctor at his home at 5pm one day, to find the blinds and curtains drawn.

In a statement she said: “He brought some wine and two glasses. I drank about half of the glass to be polite and we spoke about [her studies]. He tried to top my wine up but I declined.

“He asked me if I had a boyfriend. I thought this was inappropriate. He told me he had been through a divorce. He put my coat on for me and went in to kiss me on the cheek.”

Later Narayan suggested they celebrate the completion of her college work with a drink and said he would ‘’keep a glass of white ready’’ for another meeting at his home.

Witness B was taken by Narayan for a drink in a pub in December 2013 where she said he repeatedly touched her leg and asked if she had a boyfriend. He told her he could “read hands” pointing to an area under her thumb, saying: “The bigger that part, the better the kisser”, before asking her to “test whether that principle was true’’, which she declined.

He also encouraged her to feel under his own thumb and touched her hair, telling her he had “failed students when he had been in a bad mood in the past”. Later he messaged that he was “about to mark your academic module” and added a winking symbol.

Witness C was also texted by Narayan. He suggested: “A supervision session could take place in Didsbury; a bit of vino always helps.”

When she said her boyfriend wouldn’t approve, he added: “Spending time together could be the difference between obtaining a good and an excellent mark on your educational module.” The hearing continues.
