May’s bouquet tribute to victims of 9/11
A BOUQUET of white roses with a poignant note from Prime Minister Theresa May was laid in London yesterday in memory of the 2,996 victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Two silences, each lasting a minute, were observed at the ceremony in Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to mark the 15th anniversary of the attacks in which two passenger jets were flown into the World Trade Centre.
In New York, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was overcome by the heat at a service on the site of the tragedy. She had to be led away but later recovered.
In Washington, President Barack Obama led tributes outside the Pentagon, where a third hijacked plane was flown into the building.
