Wife tells Vaz to have tests after rent boys shame
DISGRACED MP Keith Vaz is set to have a full health check after boasting how he had unprotected sex with rent boys.
Mr Vaz will have the examination after confessing to his wife he betrayed her with male prostitutes.
Maria Fernandes has revealed her anguish after the Labour MP was secretly filmed as he met two Romanian escorts at a flat near his home.
Mother-of-two Ms Fernandes says she is standing by her cheating husband and is prepared to forgive him.
Commenting on Mr Vaz’s boast that he had unprotected sex, she said: “Yes, it did bother me. He needs a full check-up.” But she revealed her first reaction was to break every piece of her crockery over his head. She said: “If I don’t forgive him it’ll destroy me. I still love him.” But if he cheats again, “I’ll sling him out.”
Ms Fernandes revealed how Mr Vaz, 59, contemplated killing himself as the scandal Vaz, 59, was secretly filmed engulfed him. The Leicester East MP, whose father committed suicide when he was 14, told friends he thought of throwing himself off the roof of their home. Lawyer and part-time judge Ms Fernandes told how her husband begged forgiveness after the tryst was revealed on September 4. With tears in his eyes, he told her he was “very sorry” and promised it would never happen again. Ms Fernandes, 57, who has been married to the politician for 23 years, said she never suspected her husband was bisexual. She said: “It was like an out-of-body experience, it was not real. It was a terrible shock and I’m still processing it. Keith is not a bad person, he’s just done a terrible thing.” Scotland Yard confirmed its Special Inquiry Team is assessing the case after Mr Vaz told the escorts he might buy cocaine for them but he would not take it himself.
