Great sight, great fit The new ComFit range from Specsavers is specially designed to be their most comfortable yet

VERYONE likes to be comfortable, and as we get older that only becomes more important – especially when it comes to choosing a new pair of glasses.

In fact, when Specsavers carried out in-depth research to find out what customers over the age of 65 wished for from a pair of specs, the number one priority was comfort and a great fit. Durability and quality were raised as important, but what customers wanted more than anything were glasses that felt great to wear – perhaps not surprisingly when many of us wear them for most of the day.

With that in mind, Specsavers developed a new range, ComFit, which puts comfort and fit at its core. The glasses include cushionlike gel pads, so you can wear them all day long without any irritation. The specially designed extra soft arm tips stop glasses from irritating the delicate skin behind the ear, and a discreet silicon lining makes even a heavy bridge unnoticeable. The frames are non-slip and do not create any temporal pressure against the head or behind the ears, for ultimate comfort.

“They fit nicely and are so light – they’re just magic,” says Beaumont Clark, 76. “They are so comfortable and whoever came up with the rubber tips at the end of the arm, they are brilliant. It just stays where you put it and doesn’t move.”

Flexible hinges also provide improved durability, ideal for people who take their glasses on and off throughout the day. And as well as being comfortable, the glasses are stylish, too – as Beaumont discovered from the many compliments he received on his new pair. “My daughter says, ‘Dad, there’s something about you’, I said, ‘What?’, ‘Oh I know! You’ve got your new glasses on haven’t you.’”

The ComFit range has 40 different styles of frame to choose from – 20 for men, and 20 for women, in both plastic and metal.

“My neighbour walked past and she said, ‘Oh I like your glasses, where did you get them?’ I said ‘Specsavers,’ and she said ‘Oh, I’m a Specsavers customer as well!’

“I’ve been wearing glasses now for 30 odd years and these specs, they’re absolutely magic. All round, 12 out of ten, beautiful!”
