Athlete’s daughter shot dead

THE teenage daughter of US Olympic athlete Tyson Gay died after she was hit by a stray bullet during a shootout, it emerged yesterday.

Men in two cars began shooting at each other outside a restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Trinity Gay, 15, was hit in the neck and rushed to hospital but later died.

Tyson Gay last night spoke of his shock: “I’m so confused. I have no idea what happened.”

It is thought Trinity, herself a budding athlete, was a bystander and not in either of the vehicles.
