PICKS OF THE DAY

-

Military: SAS: Who Dares Wins, 9pm, C4

Only the toughest of people can make it into the SAS and this programme reinforces just how challenging life within the service can be. As the new series begins, 25 fresh-faced hopefuls are looking to do enough to convince the team of elite former soldiers, including Ollie, Foxy, Ant and Billy (all left), that they have what it takes. Before they even reach their base in the Amazon rainforest, the group face a terrifying bridge leap as well as a series of gruelling psychological and physical exercises. Many factors can contribute to the downfall of all but the most resilient recruits and the hopefuls must deal with the hostile environment, altitude, heat and insects as they battle to show they have what it takes.

Comedy: Morgana Robinson’s The Agency, 10pm, BBC2

Those featured in tonight’s one-woman impersonation show include Miranda Hart, Fearne Cotton (left) and Natalie Cassidy, while you should keep an eye out for a guest appearance from Al Murray. Hart takes part in a warts-and-all documentary about the police force as she attempts to make people see her in a more serious light. Cotton, meanwhile, is on the phone to Vincent full of what she thinks are ideas for TV gold.

Politics: Paxman On Trump vs Clinton: Divided America 9pm, BBC1

Jeremy Paxman crosses the Atlantic to get a first-hand look at one of the most controversial presidential races in history. The two candidates – Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton – have both come to be viewed with a certain level of distrust by sections of the US public and Paxman (above) asks what that could mean for American democracy going forward.

Reality: First Dates, 10pm, C4

Making a return to the dating game is daunting for Charlotte, who was widowed last year. Despite her reservations, the 24-year-old waitress sits down across the table from Jamie (above left, with Charlotte) tonight. Can the junior stockbroker be the perfect gentleman she is looking for? Also in the First Dates restaurant this evening are 66-year-old Teresa and Akon fan James.

Drama: Cold Feet, 9pm, ITV

Sadly there is only next week’s episode left of this series but the returning Cold Feet has certainly lost none if its brilliance. David (Robert Bathurst, right) is in a financial hole but Karen points out to him that he could dip into the girls’ trust funds in order to tide himself over. However, she is unaware that he has already done that. Elsewhere, Pete and Jenny reach a compromise with Harry’s daughter about the will.
