SO CUTE, THE ROYAL SWEETIES
PRINCE George and Princess Charlotte joined their parents at church on Christmas Day for the first time yesterday.
It marked the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first Christmas away from the royal Sandringham estate since their children were born.
William and Kate and their children joined the Duchess’s parents and sister Pippa Middleton, along with fiance James Matthews, at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berks.
George, three, and 19-month-old Charlotte emerged from the church an hour later clutching candy canes, given to all children present to symbolise Jesus as a rock.
Kate, 34, wore a £369 maroon Hobbs Unlimited Celeste wool coat first seen in 2012.
Charlotte looked cute in a navy coat and dark red tights.
William, 34, wore a maroon tie, with George dressed in a long grey coat over maroon shorts and long blue socks.
Pippa, 33, wore a tweed check coat for the trip to the church, while millionaire hedge fund manager James, 41, arrived in a jacket and tie. They are set to be married on May 20. The royal party were accompanied by Kate and Pippa’s brother James – there was no sign of his girlfriend, television presenter Donna Air – and their parents Michael and Carole, who wore a poncho.
William and Kate had said they plan to spend as much time with the Middletons as William’s side of the family at Christmas.
The church is about seven miles from Michael and Carole Middleton’s £5million seven-bedroom house in Bucklebury. The Rev Nick Wynne Jones, a director of the Church of England’s evangelical council, took the service and praised the royal children for their behaviour afterwards.
There were colouring books in a side room for the children if they became fidgety.
But George and Charlotte stayed seated with their parents in the main part of the church.
The Rev Wynne-Jones added: “I know the Middletons. It’s their family church.”
