Let 10-year-old Barron ‘be a kid’ says Chelsea
CHELSEA Clinton has come to the defence of Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son Barron and said he “deserves the chance to be a kid”.
The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and ex-First Lady Hillary Clinton was drawing on her own eight years as a child in the White House.
Barron Trump is Mr Trump’s son with his third wife Melania and the youngest of his five children.
He will not live in the White House but in New York where he goes to school. Since his father’s inauguration on Friday he has suffered vile social media abuse.
Critics asked if he was autistic as he had trouble paying attention in the ceremony. They also joked he was a vampire as he was pale and “more of a freak than his dad”. Miss Clinton tweeted: “Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids.”
The 36-year-old was 12 when her father became President in 1993. The married mother-of-two said she was grateful to her parents for giving her a normal life.
Meanwhile, Madonna apologised yesterday for threatening to “blow up the White House” during the Women’s March in Washington on Saturday. The star, who is being investigated by the US Secret Service, said she was “not a violent person” and “spoke in metaphor”.
