JAMES MAKES SURE FLOYD’S SPIRIT LIVES ON

JAMES MARTIN used Keith Floyd’s old Citroën 2CV for his televised French road trip.

The TV chef, 44, whose new ITV daytime cookery show, James Martin’s French Adventure, is filmed in SaintÉmilion, Bordeaux, used his mentor Keith’s old car to get around, and it even still smelt like the wine-loving bon viveur, who died from a heart attack in 2009. “His daughter called me up and asked if I’d like to buy his car and within 72 hours it was in my garage – all battered and smelling like Oddbins,” the former Saturday Kitchen host, who boasts an impressive collection of classic cars, tells Radio Times.

“My mechanic did the brakes and the engine and put a new exhaust on it, and then it drove faultlessly all over France.”
