HOUSEWIFE’S FANTASY

-

FEW actors relish sex scenes but it helps that the “other man”, played by Ben Chaplin, has known Emily Watson for years.

The 47-year-old from Windsor landed his first major role in Bye Bye Baby on Channel 4 in 1992.

His suave looks helped him get his Hollywood break in The Truth About Cats And Dogs in 1996. He has also appeared in Birthday Girl, with Nicole Kidman, and Murder By Numbers with Sandra Bullock. Chaplin was once described as “Britain’s sexiest export” to America.

His successful stage career includes an Olivier nomination for The Glass Menagerie.

Last year it was reported he married long-time girlfriend Rocio Oliver.

It was his friend Watson who suggested he’d be perfect to play the civil servant in Apple Tree Yard. “In some ways my character is a housewife’s guilty fantasy,” he says.
