Piers: Ewan so ‘vain’

-

HE HAS been praised for his long-term support of women’s rights but now Ewan McGregor is being branded a vain coward for his activism.

The actor is facing unrelenting verbal attacks from the outspoken Good Morning Britain host and celebrity baiter Piers Morgan for boycotting the ITV breakfast show yesterday. The 45-year-old pulled out of appearing at the last minute because of Piers’ inflammatory remarks about the women’s marches following Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Piers, 51, had said: “I’m planning a men’s march to protest at the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists.”

T2 Trainspotting star Ewan, below right, told his followers on Twitter yesterday: “Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise Piers Morgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about Women’s March.”

Piers said: “He was meant to be the main guest on today’s show but he has decided not to turn up. A real man would have come on and debated it with me, not run away like a coward.”

What followed was a spate of tweets from Piers condemning the Moulin Rouge star. “He’s an actor, not the Dalai bloody Lama,” he wrote in one. “Just an actor, not a brain surgeon,” he said in another, later adding: “Vainspotting.”

Piers, left, also reposted several comments. “What Ewan McGregor has done is absolutely pathetic,” stated one. “Throwing a strop at Piers having a different view about women who protested because of their views. Oh the irony,” wrote another. Ewan joins a long list of famous names – including Madonna, Beyoncé and Rihanna – to have been tongue-lashed by Piers.
