Hull will fight to the end for Ryan

- Jason Mellor

MARCO SILVA has issued a rallying call to cup underdogs Hull, ‘Let’s do it for Ryan’.

Ahead of the semi-final clash with Manchester United, the head coach said his players are still coming to terms with the fractured skull suffered by midfielder Ryan Mason in the 2-0 Premier League loss at Chelsea on Sunday.

The former Tottenham player is recovering after emergency surgery following an accidental clash of heads with Blues defender Gary Cahill.

Silva and his squad plan to visit the 25-year-old in hospital in London before Sunday’s FA Cup trip to Fulham.

Before then, they will look to overhaul a two-goal first-leg deficit against Jose Mourinho’s side at the KCOM Stadium. They hope to be able to dedicate a stunning comeback win to their stricken star as they bid to seal an unlikely place in next month’s Wembley final.

Fans plan to show their support for Mason by applauding in the 25th minute, and Silva’s squad will also wear a ‘Mason 25’ shirt during the warm-up.

“Our thoughts are very much with Ryan,” said Silva.

“We know he is in good spirits. It is not easy for our squad, but we need to be strong together, fight together and support Ryan.

“In moments like this, we play for our fans, for ourselves and for Ryan.

“He is our friend, we work with him every day, and now we need to react like a team to support him.”

Hull’s top scorer Robert Snodgrass was last night close to a £10million move to Burnley.
